In a sermon that appeared in your paper of the 15th inst. an evangelist is reported to have said, "Christian Science is not a religion; it is a rich corporation, always involved in litigation of some sort." No doubt your readers, and probably his congregation, will wonder why a clergyman should find time to misrepresent the religion of a large body of earnest Christian people. A wise and learned judge once said, "There is no wiser nor more beneficial clause in the Constitution of the United States or of the several states than that one which guarantees to each citizen the right to worship God according to the dictates of his own conscience." christian Scientists fully agree with the eminent jurist, and strive to obey this sacred provision.

Christian Science is fully and clearly stated by its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, in her book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." This book is available for everybody to examine and read, and may be found in the public libraries and at local Christian Science Reading Rooms. Anyone who will read Science and Health with an open mind will soon discover that the teachings of Christian Science are in accord with the words and works of Christ Jesus as recorded in the New Testament.

All lectures given by members of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship are free and for the public. The lecturers, however, are not sent out, as claimed, but are invited by the churches and societies, by whom the expenses are paid. Is it possible that our reverend friend objects to these lectures on the ground that "no collection is taken"? The Master said, "Freely ye have received, freely give." The men and women who compose the lecture board freely give to their listeners of the spiritual truth they have gained through an earnest study and consecrated practice of Christian Science. Christian Science lectures heal, inspire, and are health-giving.
