One of your writers has recently referred to Christian Science as a "brand of reasoning," whereby "all one has to do is believe firmly in a thing and it is so." While no intelligent person would take the above statement seriously, such references lead to a misunderstanding of the teaching and practice of Christian Science, which is a scientific system of divine healing and is demonstrable when understood. Its practice does not admit of mere believing or of any action of the so-called human mind, but relies upon the understood spiritual laws of divine Mind. This Christianly scientific understanding of Truth destroys the beliefs of the human mind which are the cause of disease rather than its cure. The only reasoning applied in the practice of Christian Science is that which arrives at the understanding of Truth, irrespective of what may appear to be true to the material senses. This method is in accord with the teaching of Christ Jesus, who said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
