[Written for the Sentinel]

Our Reading Room

A quiet resting place, a haven sure,
Where wanderers may come and rest secure
Beneath the shadow of His mighty wing,*
And listen for the song the angels sing.

All ye who enter here leave care behind,
Seek solace for thy ills in restful Mind;
This is the secret place of the Most High
That in the Father's tender care doth lie.

God make us worthy of this gracious gift,
This habitation pure that helps to lift
The burden from the weary heart, and sore,
That healing brings and grace to know Thee more.

God grant us this, our ever earnest prayer,
That we may always seek the vision fair
To help us keep these dwelling places free
From aught unworthy, dearest Lord, of Thee.
