Emanu-El

A writer in your issue of February 15 expresses the view that when a Jew embraces Christian Science and accepts its teachings with respect to Jesus, he ceases to be a Jew. His statement as to what Christian Science teaches about Jesus is correct as far as it goes, with the one exception that it does not teach that Jesus was God. Concerning this point, Mrs. Eddy has written on page 361 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "The Christian who believes in the First Commandment is a monotheist. Thus he virtually unites with the Jew's belief in one God, and recognizes that Jesus Christ is not God, as Jesus himself declared, but is the Son of God."
