Over twenty years ago Christian Science was presented to a dear one in my family who was in great need of physical healing, and who lovingly and willingly accepted it and received an instantaneous healing. This seemed very wonderful to me as a child, and as I grew older I often said that sometime I would take up Christian Science too; but it was not until twelve years later that I earnestly began the study. At that time I was very much discouraged with life in general. I had just suffered a severe attack of scarlet fever which had left me with kidney poisoning; and for two years I was never really strong, and was unable to eat many things.

I had the pleasure of visiting in a home where a loyal Christian Scientist was living, and I asked her if Christian Science could heal various conditions. She told me that nothing was impossible to God. A few days later I had an opportunity to prove the power of Truth when I sprained my ankle and, as we were miles from a town or a physician, I asked this friend to help me. She did so most lovingly, and the next morning I was able to get up and be on my feet all day. The discoloration lasted a few days, but there was no pain. I was indeed grateful for this healing, and after retuning to my home purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and began the daily study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. After three months, and without the help of a practitioner, I was able to lay aside glasses which I had worn for sixteen years, and which a noted specialist said I would never get along without. This encouraged me to press on, and many beautiful healings followed, of diphtheritic throat, sick headaches, colds, neuritis, infected fingers, grippe, as well as business and financial problems and other discordant conditions.

The Christian Science Sunday School, where the children receive the Word of Truth, is great cause for gratitude. Our two children have had beautiful proofs of God's ever present care in times of contagion, and many times have been able to work out their own problems. I am grateful for every opportunity I have had to prove God's allness, grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a loyal branch church, grateful for all the periodicals, the lectures, our faithful practitioners, indeed for everything that Christian Science has done and is doing continually for me and for all mankind.
