It is with a great sense of gratitude that I testify to the healing effects of Christian Science. It would be difficult for me to say exactly when I started receiving the many benefits that have come to me since I first heard of this wonderful Science. I can now look back over a period of nine or ten years and see that the correction of wrong thoughts began almost immediately, and that the whole process has been and is one of gradual unfoldment.

I have been healed of valvular disease of the heart, as well as an enlarged heart; and I was instantaneously healed of smoking. A more recent healing, for which I am very grateful, came to me while listening to a Christian Science lecture. I had very acute symptoms of ringworm, which I had contracted by handling dairy cows, several of which were manifesting this trouble. The morning after the lecture I noticed that the irritation had gone, and I was at once curious to see what had happened; and I am happy to be able to say that the signs of ringworm had completely vanished. I then went to the cow byres and inspected the herd again, and found that all the symptoms had gone from the cows as well, and that their healing was complete. I am especially grateful for this healing at the lecture because it showed me that I must have caught a glimpse of the spirit of Mrs. Eddy's teachings; and it was still more encouraging to continue with the all-absorbing study of Christian Science as taught in her authorized writings.

One afternoon our little daughter, aged two and a half years, showed symptoms of acute pneumonia. We took her to a Christian Science practitioner at once, and help was lovingly given. That night the child grew steadily worse, and at two o'clock in the morning she lay panting in my arms. I allowed fear to creep into my consciousness to such an extent that I thought she was dying. It was this fear that drove me to the realization that Christian Science alone could help me in this extreme moment. By constant declaration of the scientific statement that God is Life, and striving to realize what I knew about God through the study of Christian Science, I became calm and all fear of death left me; and the child began to get better. It was during this anxious period that I tried to be grateful for all the benefits received from the study of Christian Science. It was then that the thought came to me that Jesus gave thanks to God before he actually saw the raising of Lazarus, when he said at the tomb of Lazarus, "Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always." I was calmed, and fear left me; and I was able to see things clearly again.
