It is a long time since I offered a testimony for publication in the pages of the Journal or Sentinel, but I was reminded of my duty and privilege by reading in the Sentinel that "testimonies of healings brought about at authorized lectures on Christian Science will be published ... when verified as are other testimonies appearing in the periodicals." This notice brought to mind one of the most remarkable healings I have ever experienced; and I can also testify to the healing of many other forms of disease, accident, and trouble, either in my family, for myself, or that have come under my personal observation.

I had been suffering from stomach trouble for over a week. I could hardly eat anything and was most uncomfortable. I had been working in Christian Science myself and had help from a practitioner, but apparently without result. Then an authorized Christian Science lecture in a neighboring town was announced. I had no thought of going, because it was quite a journey,—about an hour by trolley and another hour by train,—and I did not feel equal to the trip. However, a friend invited my wife and myself to go, and I finally consented. It was an evening lecture. We took the train, and all through the journey and during the lecture I was in a sort of daze, and not one word of the lecture seemed to remain in my memory after it was spoken. I felt, if anything, worse when we left the hall to take the train back to our home city. We arrived about midnight, and our friend suggested that we go to a restaurant and have something to eat. That was the last thing I felt like doing, but to be sociable I consented. I sat down at the table and no sooner picked up the menu card than I realized I was hungry. I ordered and ate a hearty meal, the first in over a week. The stomach trouble was gone. The impersonal Word of God spoken by the lecturer had healed me completely. "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions."

It is needless to say that I am exceedingly grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for having established the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church, together with its other activities, and especially for having protected them by the Church Manual.
