Soon after I came into Christian Science I was instantaneously...

Soon after I came into Christian Science I was instantaneously healed of rheumatism, which had periodically attacked one of my knees, causing me to become lame for weeks. I would be unable to walk without a bandage as a support. The last attack was experienced when walking in the street. I stood a few seconds declaring the truth as taught in Christian Science, and then walked on, finding almost immediately that I was free.

Two other instantaneous healings I should like to mention, one of influenza, another of a badly sprained ankle. At one time I cut my hand very severely in helping to close a window. My hand slipped, and was violently thrust through the glass. I washed the wound under a water tap, the blood running freely. The following statement from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy came as the healing message of Truth (p. 124): "Adhesion, cohesion, and attraction are properties of Mind." The blood instantly ceased to flow, and the next day the wound was hardly visible. Three weeks afterward quite a large piece of glass was removed from the hand. This was surprising, as I had no idea it was embedded in the flesh until a corner pierced the skin; it came out perfectly clean, the cavity closing in a few hours. A dear friend helped me at the time, as faintness seemed rather troublesome.

Another healing for which I am very grateful is that of a condition which was most inharmonious. Whenever I went out of doors, I would have to supply myself with several handkerchiefs, and all would be wet in a short time; my nose was not comfortable for a moment. One day I was guided to analyze the condition, and discovered the manifestation was due to acute sensitiveness of unpleasant or antagonistic atmospheres. I would go considerably out of my way to avoid them. At this time it was my duty to approach just such an atmosphere; therefore I hurried to obey, and received a healing of this condition before I returned, a few hours later.
