I was not led to Christian Science primarily for physical healing, although there was need of it in my family: my one desire was to find God. In great mental disquietude I turned to ministers to answer my many questions. Failing to find help, quite suddenly and unexpectedly to myself I found my way to a Christian Science practitioner. At my first visit, in a short conversation I was told something of God's love, and was healed at that time of what is called nervous indigestion. Soon I was in possession of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This was diligently read. The Bible through this book became illumined, and for the first time in my life thoughts began to "acquaint themselves intelligently with God" (Science and Health, p. 107). At once my little daughter began to improve—she had been ill for months, and the doctors were not sanguine of her recovery. Without direct treatment, but by the study of the Bible and Science and Health, and the weekly Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly, she was restored to health.

This was many years ago. Through all the years since, Christian Science has been our only physician; and its healing power has been fully tested and never found wanting. The purest joy that can come to anyone is to have the realization that God is All, "there is none else," manifested in the healing of the body, for with that healing comes also the regeneration of mortal thought.

We who are learning of the Christ-principle turn in grateful acknowledgment and reverence to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy. "And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it." To the listening ear of Mrs. Eddy came this voice, and her obedience in following the living Word has resulted in bringing to untold numbers a practical Christianity which satisfies the hungry heart, heals suffering, and shows mortals how they may rid themselves of the false beliefs of the flesh.
