With sincere gratitude I wish to testify to the healing of both mind and body through the power of God as taught in Christian Science. Before becoming interested in this all-absorbing study I suffered intensely from indigestion, and also from what might be described as an excitable mental condition. I was continually dosing myself with such remedies as were supposed to be able to relieve or cure. I tried almost every so-called cure that I came across in materia medica. These sometimes seemed to give relief, but afterwards failed altogether.

I sought in change of occupation, interest, and locality for happiness and mental peace, but without success. At that period I often found myself seeking in literature for some author's idea of God, as I had lost all faith in the God in whom I had been taught to believe.

At the end of this time, filled with doubt and depression, I found myself in a state of nervous exhaustion and mental chaos, and in unfamiliar and uncongenial surroundings. It was here that the greatest blessing came into my life: a kind person whom I met mentioned Christian Science to me. I only dimly remembered having heard of it before, and knew nothing whatever about its teachings. However, I got the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and after a short perusal of the book I realized that it needed careful study. This I was afraid to give it at first, as I believed I had already overtaxed my mind; but after three attempts, and after becoming interested in the Christian Science movement, the little understanding I gained began to work and I knew it to contain the truth about God and man. I then took up the study in earnest and had help from loving practitioners. I was greatly impressed by their loving-kindness and ever-readiness to help, and I saw by their lives that Christian Science is a religion of love.
