When Christian Science was first presented to me I was suffering from gallstone colic. I tried everything to get relief, but continually grew worse; so I never went on the street without morphine in my pocket. I mention this because when those pains seized me I was unable to speak. At that time I lived with my sister-in-law, and we became interested in Christian Science, but I did not get any light. When I used to complain she gently told me I must deny the pain; but it was like water running off a duck's back, until one day when I complained again she emphatically said, "You must deny it." The next time I went to her it was to ask her how to deny the false sense of pain, and she gently told me how.

I then began the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy in earnest, my sister-in-law and I together studying until far into the night. The healing of gallstone colic took place many years ago, and has been permanent. Since then I have gone through deep waters, so to speak, and have had many beautiful healings. I was always a lover of the Bible, and from childhood used to ask my mother questions pertaining to the Scriptures. When I look back I now see how I was led to accept Christian Science and have never doubted the truth.

I am thankful for membership in The Mother Church, also in a branch church, and for class instruction; but most of all for the spiritual unfolding of man's unity with the Father and the ability to help my brother-man even as I also was helped.
