With sincere gratitude I should like to relate a healing...
With sincere gratitude I should like to relate a healing which occurred in my family in the spring of 1925. Our little daughter, at that time six years of age, was taken suddenly ill with vomiting and headache. At first I did not take much notice of it,—which was a mistake,—for I should have realized from the very beginning that nothing but divine Love is present. As she seemed to be getting worse and worse, I silently declared the truth constantly; but I soon perceived that I had fear and was seeing the difficulty partly as reality.
For four days and four and a half nights I struggled with fear. The child grew very weak and apathetic, could not take any nourishment whatever, and lay there moaning most of the time. As the evidence was very alarming, despair took hold of me. I asked my husband to telegraph to a practitioner I knew. This was at two o'clock in the afternoon. I sat down by the side of the child's bed with a copy of Der Herold der Christian Science. At a quarter past four I felt so relieved that I became quite quiet, and was able to experience God's ever-presence. At this moment the child looked at me and for the first time in four days asked for something to eat. I knew and felt that the practitioner had worked for the child, and this was confirmed by a letter. The child began to sing, then got up and played. Oh, how grateful I was! When my husband came home, he was quite overjoyed by the quick healing.
I have received such numerous blessings since Christian Science came into my life that I cannot possibly imagine what my life would be without it. It is my desire to express my gratitude by endeavoring to obey the words of our Master, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."
