The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

New York, New York (Third Church).

Lecturer: John J. Flinn; introduced by J. Donald Hinds, who said:—

The significance of our entering into the study of Christian Science is well set forth in a parable which Jesus used in explaining the kingdom of heaven to his disciples, as related in the thirteenth chapter of Matthew. He said, "The kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." Improved health and increased happiness, resulting from the study of Christian Science, are the first proof that we have found the "pearl of great price;" and this makes us willing and able to continue giving up our erroneous beliefs and opinions, that we may more fully obtain the harmony and happiness which are certainly of the kingdom of heaven.
