I would express my great gratitude for Christian Science...

I would express my great gratitude for Christian Science and its many blessings, and tell all the world the glad news. The first time I put Christian Science to the test I was instantly healed of a bad toothache. It was a thought from God which brought the healing, from the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer, as given in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy (p. 17): "Enable us to know,—as in heaven, so on earth,—God is omnipotent, supreme." I held to this thought for a few moments, and the tooth stopped aching.

A few years ago I had a beautiful healing of my eye. I went into a moving picture theater, and in removing my hat accidentally stuck the point of the hatpin into my eye. I declared, "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all" (Science and Health, p. 468), and I was able to see the pictures. That night I experienced trouble, and was unable to lie down or sleep. I worked mentally all night and next day until about three o'clock in the afternoon. A lady living at the same place suggested a material remedy, and also asked me if I would like a piece of ice to apply to the eye. I told her I did not wish to give it so much attention; and the eye opened instantly. Then she exclaimed, "Oh, it seems all right now! I thought you might have quite a sore eye." I could say with Job, "I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee." Mrs. Eddy defines "eyes" as "spiritual discernment,—not material but mental" (Science and Health, p. 586). I was deeply grateful for this healing, for it seemed like a testing time; but I worked it out alone with God. I have been healed of rheumatism in the foot. This endured but "for a night;" then I could "run, and not be weary; and ... walk, and not faint." I have also been healed of constipation.

My husband is not interested in Christian Science, but it has helped him in business. He thought it impossible to make this demonstration, because of great opposition. I tried to realize that "in Science, divine Love alone governs man" (Church Manual, p. 40). The demonstration was made in due time, and all was harmonious. At another time he seemed ill, thinking it was the grippe. In Christian Science we do not treat people unless they desire us to do so. In this case, I realized no reality in the manifestation; and in a few days the sickness passed into its native nothingness. Once, when about his work, my husband hurt his foot, and that evening he showed me how the ankle was swollen. I realized that there is no reality in a sore foot and forgot all about it until some time afterward; and it was not mentioned again.
