I did not come into Christian Science for healing

I did not come into Christian Science for healing. It was only to please one very dear to me that I began reading Science and Health. As I read on, although much of the contents was almost incomprehensible to me, I found ere the book was finished that I was ready and desirous to begin it again. From that time to the present day, this book has been my guide and my pleasure. During these years I have had demonstrations for myself over many an ill "that flesh is heir to,"—typhoid fever, the grippe in its severest forms, rheumatism, and other diseases having been overcome. I have also seen many others healed through the understanding of Love's ever-presence and power.

I am very grateful to God for all these blessings; also to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for teaching us how to interpret the Master's teachings through the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Each day brings to me greater joy and appreciation of the teachings of Christian Science; and my prayer is that each day I may "know Him nearer, love Him more, and humbly pray to serve Him better," to quote Mrs. Eddy's words on page 174 of her book, "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany."
