Since you have given circulation to what a critic recently said against Mrs. Eddy and Christian Science, I must ask you to give equal publicity to this comment and refutation.

Christian Science healing involves faith in the ability and availability of God as the only healer; but it is not merely faith healing, and it is not at all what is commonly called faith healing. As Mrs. Eddy has said on the first page of her principal work, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love."

The practice of Christian Science does not involve suggestion. The practice and the teaching of this religion are utterly opposed to the production of results by the suggestions of the so-called human mind. In the practice of Christian Science, results are produced solely by the exercise of spiritual power derived from God—solely by spiritual causation acting through spiritual law. As Mrs. Eddy has said on page 206 of the same book, "It is the province of spiritual sense to govern man."
