A few years ago, I fell from a back porch over five steps...
A few years ago, I fell from a back porch over five steps to the ground, striking the right side of my face upon a large projecting root of an old oak tree. As I found myself falling I called upon God, knowing that man could not be hurt. Thus, as soon as I had touched the ground, I was able to get up quickly and run back into the house, praising God that man could not be hurt. I had just washed the sand off my face, when the door-bell rang and a lady came in for Christian Science treatment; and before she left, another lady called. They each remarked how well I looked; but I did not say a word as to the experience I had just had. When by myself again, I kept on praising God. Upon retiring for the night, I noticed that it was evident that I must have struck my left foot on the edges of the steps, for there were two deep dents visible. I applied the truth to this seeming error, went to sleep, and had a good night's rest; and when I awoke in the morning my foot was healed. Now, I had experienced no pain whatsoever with my foot. I again thanked God for having heard me in this petition also. But, lo, much to my surprise, when I started to get up I found that my neck was stiff, for I could not turn my head. What next was I to apply as taught in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy? The answer came as though a "still small voice" said, Mental surgery. I applied the truth, remembering that God, divine Mind, is the only surgeon. Suddenly I heard a loud sound, as though a man had snapped his thumb and finger; and I immediately turned my head. Then I realized that I was healed; that God, the great adjuster, had put the seeming derangement right, and all was properly adjusted. Herein again was God's promise fulfilled—made manifest: "Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."
I am grateful for the spiritual understanding which has come to me through the study of Christian Science; and I praise God for His protecting care in this experience and at all times and to all mankind, and for the understanding of the teachings of Jesus the Christ, through Mrs. Eddy's works.—(Miss) Christina Elizabeth Pfeiffer, St. Petersburg, Florida.
