When Christian Science was called to my attention in August, 1909, I was a helpless, hopeless invalid. Every known material treatment had been tried, also hospitals and nursing homes, but with no lasting benefit. I suffered from gallstones, a loose kidney, paralysis of the bowels, catarrh of the stomach, bilious headaches which often lasted for days, and a terrible nervous disease. I had passed through one very serious operation, and the day before Christian Science was brought to my notice I was told that another must be performed immediately. When I asked as to the outcome, the answer was that it was the only thing left to try. The next day a Christian Science practitioner visited me, and from that day to this no medicine or material means of any kind has been used. The bowel difficulty was overcome in the first treatment. The other ailments were slower to yield, but I am to-day a strong, happy, healthy woman with not a vestige of the old ailments left. Every man-made law that had bound me for nearly twenty years has been destroyed by the understanding of God as taught in Christian Science. Whereas for months at a time I could not walk around my bed, I now walk miles. I put in a long day's work, and am fresher at the close of the day than at the start.

This is only a part of what Christian Science has done for me. Is it any wonder that my heart is overflowing with thankfulness to God and with gratitude to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, also for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and for active work in a branch church. My healing was slow, and many, many times I got discouraged, but to-day I am thankful for all the obstacles which seemed to bar my way, for in Christian Science we learn to turn these into opportunities.—(Miss) Catherine Mary Lodge, Croydon, Surrey, England.
