It was about nine years ago that I first became interested...
It was about nine years ago that I first became interested in Christian Science, though not for physical help, but because the teaching seemed to be what I had long wished for. I had always regarded myself as a Christian, but still was not satisfied (having been taught that God sends suffering to bring us closer to Him), and life was such a puzzle. When I learned of an all-loving God, who knows only good, and of evil as having no power except what we give it, there followed the conviction that this was the truth. Since then I have been able to prove it, having been healed of many physical ills, as well as of constant worry over my own affairs and those of every member of the family. I have also been helped through great sorrows.
Several years ago, when our little girl was born, we had to have a doctor, and I became so filled with medical thought that my strong faith in Christian Science waned. Fear so filled me that I hardly knew what to believe for several months, until, through the faithful work of a practitioner, the realization came that I was trying to serve two masters. I then put all my trust in God and depended entirely upon spiritual help, and the reward came, for the confidence and peace returned and there was a rapid gain in every way. Since this experience I have read and studied all the more, in order never to be tempted again to stray from the way of Truth, although it has only been during the past two years that I have been able to demonstrate over the thought that a practitioner had to be called on whenever anything seemed to go wrong. Words cannot express my gratitude for the spiritual growth that has enabled me to do my own mental work, for through the study and practice of this beautiful truth there has resulted protection for myself and family from many physical troubles and from discords of all kinds. I am truly thankful to God for His loving protection and guidance, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her unselfish labors.
