An overwhelming sense of gratitude impels me to tell of the blessings which my family and I have received through Christian Science. Two years ago our twelve year old daughter became afflicted with a scrofulous disease which manifested itself in a most alarming fashion on her eyes, nose, and mouth. Despite the best and most careful medical attention, the trouble would not yield, but rather increased to such an extent that the physician predicted total blindness. He thought this might possibly be avoided by immediate treatment in a clinic, but gave us little hope in that direction.
The sorrow of my husband and myself at the thought of our child's sad fate was unspeakably great, but "man's extremity is God's opportunity." Having heard of Christian Science through acquaintances, I applied to a practitioner for treatment, which was taken up very readily, and we were given explanations of the subject. The result was wonderful indeed, and we were filled with joy and gratitude to be witnesses to the ever present help of divine Love. It became possible for the child to lay aside the bandage which she had been wearing for weeks, and she was able to go out of doors. About three or four weeks later her healing was complete. The girl's vision now is better than ever before, and her complexion is perfectly clear. The trouble has not manifested itself again. May this testimony contribute toward proving to sorrow-stricken humanity that Christ, Truth, which delivereth from sin, disease, and death today and forever, is working in our midst. I am also mindful of that noble woman, Mrs. Eddy, who through faith and consecration to divine Principle was enabled to reveal this truth to us anew.
