The Express published a letter in which the following statement appeared: "I referred to the so-called Christian Science, which denies that Christ saves any one and reduces his claims to mere ridicule." Such a conclusion could never have been arrived at by studying the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. On page 497 of this book will be found the following passage: "We acknowledge Jesus' atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man's unity with God through Christ Jesus the Wayshower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death."

It is probable that this critic, like some other critics, based his conclusions upon the utterances of enemies of Christian Science, instead of himself consulting the text-book, which is of course the authority on the subject.
