In a lecture on "Mind and Faith Cure," the speaker, as reported, coupled Christian Science with other teachings and referred to it as suggestion. This mistake is not uncommon, and with one who has not given time to a careful study of Christian Science teaching, it is not surprising. However, to claim, as did the learned doctor, that Christian Science has not healed organic diseases or produced what he calls "change of tissue," shows that he has not placed himself in a position to be accurately informed in a way that requires but very little investigation. Christian Science has certainly done the very things he said it cannot do.

Christian Science has healed all manner of so-called organic diseases, including heart trouble, cancer, consumption in its last stage, tumor, broken bones, lacerated flesh, and other things of a similar character. In doing these works it has at the same time reformed the sinner, produced a higher standard of citizenship, and supplanted discord and misery with happiness and contentment. In fact, it has done the works the great Wayshower said should "follow them that believe."

The charge that such healing is the practice of suggestion is as old as spiritual healing itself. The unbelieving Jews cried "Beelzebub" at Jesus, and it is interesting that some historians record that the Jews accused him of practising Egyptian magic. They could not comprehend that the works he performed were from the Father, nor that they were the manifestation of fixed spiritual laws which always have been and will be available for those who "believe on him."
