The Lectures

Introducing Charles I. Ohrenstein, who lectured on Christian Science, Ernest F. Clymer said:—

Christian Science could not have survived without proof of its demonstrable teachings. Christian Science treats of the forces of the almighty God as preached and practised by Christ Jesus, and how to understand and use them.

About eighteen years ago the lecturer of this evening and I resided in the same city. He was then a student of Christian Science, while I was a practising physician. As a doctor of medicine I was not particularly fond of Christian Scientists, but for some reason I made an exception in his case, for I could chat with him with satisfaction regarding our respective philosophies. Those talks were always helpful, but I could not then define the reason; now, however, I regard those friendly discourses as being a contributing cause of my exodus from the confines of medicine, and I am sure that in those days I could not have imagined myself rendering this particular service for him, in which I take unusual pleasure.—Correspondence.
