It has been nearly twenty years since I first heard of Christian Science. When my sister, who had become interested in it, explained some of its basic truths to me, I was deeply impressed, and they have never left me. I owe my life and all my happiness to Christian Science, and am more grateful than I can express to that noble woman, our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her great gift to mankind, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

In April, 1909, I was taken with erysipelas in its most severe form. For several days I could not speak, except at rare intervals, and it was impossible for me to swallow even water. Besides this, there was high fever. None of my family or those around me were Scientists, but nevertheless they called a practitioner. In four days the fever was gone, though I was still very unsightly, as my face and head were badly swollen and discolored. I was in a delicate condition at this time, and was quite fearful, but the practitioner soon allayed my fear. Every day friends urged me to call a physician, but I felt all confidence in the one Mind, and in a week I was able to handle my own case.

One night in November, when our little girl was born, I awoke my husband at eleven o'clock, and he went for a practitioner. When she came she told him that we would call him when he was needed, as we had also spoken to a physician. At two o'clock she called him, and he then telephoned to the doctor, but the babe was born in fifteen minutes and I did not have any pain. This seemed hardly believable, as I had had a severe time at the birth of my first child. The baby was plump and fair, although many people told my relatives that the child would manifest the condition with which I had been affected prior to her birth. She has a very clear skin and is a growing little Scientist.
