A little over six years ago Christian Science came to me
A little over six years ago Christian Science came to me. At that time I was weary, heart-sick, and discouraged. I sought comfort from different religious beliefs, but found none. A dear friend told me about the wonderful help to be found in Christian Science, and I was induced to attend a Wednesday evening meeting. At that meeting (although at the time I did not realize what had taken place) I found my heavenly Father, and went home with such a sweet sense of peace that it was a glimpse of heaven. I have had many proofs of the healing power of Truth, but these do not mean so much to me as the spiritual healing and uplift.
I was born, it was said, with a malformation of the eyes, and I do not remember one day free from pain after the age of seven years. For twenty years I wore glasses, and it was with difficulty that they were made so that I could see. During that time I was treated at various hospitals and clinics, also by specialists, but no one held out any hope of saving my sight. The right eye was much smaller than the left and the lid drooped very badly.
I was so happy in my new-found joy in knowing I had a tender, loving Father and could prove His love for me, that I did not think of the physical healing. A few months after I came into Christian Science, a friend told me that sight was spiritual discernment, and my eyes were to see through and not with. From that moment the fear of becoming blind left me, and I was indeed free. Some time later I went through class, and the healings for myself and family were many and beautiful. Then came my test, and I had to make my choice according to the Scripture command, "Choose you this day whom ye will serve." I had until this time worn glasses; now I seemingly could not see with or without them. I now took my stand on the side of Truth, and day by day I could see better, until finally my eyes became normal and the sight has been much improved.
