I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings which...
I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings which I have received through Christian Science. For a great many years I suffered with dreadful headaches, general debility, and impaired heart action. My condition grew worse with every day, and finally I had to be taken to the hospital. Other troubles were added, and I was bedridden for six months, till one day the physician informed me that I must submit to an operation. This had to be performed without the use of anesthetics, on account of the heart trouble. For about two months I felt a measure of relief, but gradually all the old symptoms returned. I then had magnetic treatment for several months, and while no cure was brought about, I experienced improvement, though it proved to be only temporary. The ailment was then pronounced incurable. In this desperate condition my attention was called to Christian Science. I asked for help, and was freed in a comparatively short time.
After I had been in Christian Science for a length of time, I was suddenly taken ill while staying at the home of strangers. The physician who was summoned stated I had typhoid fever, and I was taken at once to Hamburg, where the case was pronounced very serious by another physician, who recommended my removal to the hospital. I at once sent a telegram to the Christian Science practitioner, and on the next day the quick and favorable change in my condition was a matter of surprise to the physician. On the second day I was able to go out and felt well and strong.
I am grateful indeed for this physical healing, but I must mention that aside from this I have become a very different woman. I believed in God formerly, but mere faith failed to help me. Now I understand better the import of the Scriptures through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and I have drawn nearer to God. I feel happy and contented, and deeply grateful for having found Christian Science.
