When I was only a beginner in the study of Christian Science,...

When I was only a beginner in the study of Christian Science, while moving a large sofa my side began to cause me great pain. I was in Constantinople at the time, and after a day or two a letter was sent to a practitioner in London, asking for help. Then, becoming frightened as the pain grew worse each day, I went to a doctor, who said that several ligaments were torn. After bandaging me he said I must be patient, as it would be some weeks before I would be well. Next morning, however, when the letter reached the practitioner, instantaneous healing came to me. It seemed good not to feel any pain. The doctor was much surprised the following day to hear that I was well.

Some time later, while still in Constantinople, I fell from a ladder and dislocated my knee. I received treatment from the same practitioner for ten weeks, and during this time was able to go up and down stairs as usual and do all my work. There were some days and nights when I was entirely free from pain, though at other times the pain was acute. There was much discoloration, with a swelling on the inside of the knee, and the leg was bent, causing me to walk with a limp; but I was absolutely healed through Christian Science, without any material remedies whatever being applied, and the bone slipped back into place one night. This was all very wonderful to me then; but what is far more wonderful to me now, is the transformation in my moral nature, which began during the treatment for my knee. Fits of depression, bad temper, selfishness, headaches, etc., began to leave me. My whole outlook on life became changed; from being miserable and ailing, I became strong and happy.

I find that always, when faithfully applied, the truth as taught in Christian Science does meet all our need and heal sin and disease. I have not needed to ask for help since, so clearly was the truth shown to me. Often during the past few years, words written or spoken have helped me over rough places, though at the time they only made me angry, because they were not understood. I am indeed truly grateful to have come thus far. I am thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy, as well as to all who have so lovingly helped me. While I am conscious that there is much to be overcome morally, I know it will all be mastered through divine Love.—Arabella M. Jones, London, England.
