The advent of Christian Science into the life of a young...
The advent of Christian Science into the life of a young man, especially at an early age, is the greatest experience he can have, for it is of more value than all the other things he may gain. If this saving truth is put into practice and faithfully demonstrated day by day, it will keep him in the straight and narrow way, and he will turn neither to the right hand nor to the left.
I would like to tell how Christian Science healed me physically. When a very small child I suffered intensely from a skin disease. At this time we knew nothing of Christian Science. Every known material remedy was used to effect a cure, but without success. As I grew older this condition gradually left me, and I was free from it for a time, but when about eighteen years of age it came back with renewed force. In the mean time my mother had been healed of rheumatism in about three weeks by Christian Science, after years of suffering. She immediately took up the study of this Science, but I did not, as I was young and did not feel the need of it. When this trouble returned, however, I asked for Christian Science treatment, knowing that material remedies could do me no good. The eruption was so bad that it almost covered my body, with the exception of my face, and the lady with whom I was boarding at the time told me after I was healed that she had no hope I would ever get well.
I was away from home when I had this trouble, and I have since learned that several persons who were with me at the time have taken up the study of Christian Science as a result of seeing me healed. My healing was slow, but it was complete, and I have never had a trace of the disease since. This was about twelve years ago, and I am now happy, rejoicing in the goodness and power of divine Truth.
