The Congregationalist and Christian World

The inspired prophets of this century are those who demand profound realization of the fatherhood of God, and a more vital and active consecration to service for the brotherhood of man. The duty of the hour is to recognize in every man, woman, and child, even the humblest, the divine kinship which should join us all together, and to strive, as Mary Antin puts it, "to give all a fair chance."

We must have no privileged class except those who enjoy the just privilege of success fairly won by honest effort and faithful service, and we must have no class branded as inferior because of color, race, or creed. We should make it a master passion to banish intolerance, injustice, and caste spirit, and in the Christian spirit of brotherhood should strive unceasingly to open the doors of opportunity and inspire with faith and hope and courage all who need the helping hand to strive ever upward and to enter into the heritage of all that is best in America.
