I am so grateful for all the help Christian Science has been to me, that I feel I must tell others of some of the good I have received. I first became interested in this teaching about three years ago. I was at that time a slave to rheumatism, from which I had suffered for over six years. I was also addicted to the use of intoxicants. The study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" completely cured me of both these conditions without any conscious effort on my part. Indeed, it was fully six months later when I realized that during this time I had forgotten the pains of rheumatism and had not had the least desire for strong drink.

Some time afterward I was troubled with a very bad rupture and was obliged to call on a practitioner for help. My healing was slow, but for this I am grateful, as I gained a fuller understanding of the truth during the twelve days which elapsed before I realized perfect health. Within a day or so of my recovery, my little boy, then three years of age, fell from the top of some steps, a height of about thirty feet, and struck on the back of his neck. He was able to come into the house alone and my wife laid him on the bed. She then began to read Science and Health, and to hold fast to the truth that as God's child he could not be harmed. This was at four o'clock in the afternoon. I reached home two hours later, and the boy was still in pain and unable to move or to be moved. My wife and I together worked as we are taught in Christian Science, and within an hour the child told us that all pain was gone. Later, when trying to move his head, however, he again cried with the pain. At half past seven, propped up with pillows, he sat at table and ate a fair supper. Then I again laid him in bed, and in an hour he was asleep. With a heart filled with thankfulness to God for His great mercy and loving-kindness, I spent the greater part of the night in praying, reading, and working in Science. Several times during the night the child turned from one side to another without awaking.
