Referring to the letter of "Disgusted," let me inform him that all students of theology are in the habit of using many commentaries on the Bible. Why should he entertain the desire to debar the Christian Scientist from using his commentary, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy? Our critic is rather exercised over the price of the Christian Science text–book being twelve shillings six pence. I wonder what he thinks of the price of Lange's "Commentary on the Bible," published in twenty–four volumes at ten shillings six pence each? He seems to forget that Science and Health is also the text–book of a Science, and that people throughout the world are being healed of all manner of diseases through the reading and understanding of it. No one is forced to buy the book; in fact, any one desiring to do so can get the loan of a copy for a fortnight or three weeks from any of the Christian Science reading–rooms throughout the country, or from any of the free public libraries. How many authors would sell their books, if this privilege were general?

In another letter "Ratio" says "Disgusted" is quite right when he maintains that the term science as here applied is a misnomer. Then he proceeds to give a particulare definition of the word, quite forgetting that its meaning is knowledge. All that one can ever know of the teachings of Jesus the Christ may be called Christian knowledge, or Christian Science, if one accepts the definition of science as "comprehension or understanding of facts or principles" (Century Dictionary).
