A little over a year ago I was not only an unbeliever in Christian Science, but was greatly prejudiced against what I thought it to be. But in my case man's extremity has surely been God's opportunity. In March, 1908, my youngest daughter, nineteen years of age, passed on, a victim of tuberculosis. She had just graduated from school and had before her a bright and promising future. It was a very heavy blow to me and it was impossible for me to rise above the great sense of grief that every day seemed to increase. Driven almost to desperation, I decided to visit a Christian Science practitioner and see if there was any help for me in that faith at which I had many times ridiculed and scoffed.

I was suffering mentally and physically at the time of this visit, but the words of loving encouragement and enlightenment were sufficient to open my eyes to the unreality of the bondage I had been in, and I was lifted out of darkness into light, and to freedom from the sense of a great grief. The physical benefit was the overcoming of neuralgia. and later, through the study of the text-book, I was enabled to take off a supporter which I had worn for nineteen years, during which time I had suffered greatly from a rupture. Science and Health is now my physician, and I know that God, divine Truth and Love, is an ever-present help in time of trouble.

Words cannot express my gratitude for these great blessings. I am deeply grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has made it possible, through the study of Science and Health, for us to understand the Christ-teaching and healing as given in the Scriptures.
