THE LECTURES

The Hon. Clarence A. Buskirk of St. Louis, Mo., lectured on Christian Science at the Grand yesterday afternoon [Feb. 27]. He was kindly and brilliantly introduced by Prof. E. L. Martin, who said in part.—

To my mind the annals of religious history reveal no more beautiful or inspiring spectacle than that presented by the Leader and followers of the Christian Science movement, who have uniformly met with equanimity, with patient forbearance, and with the sweet spirit of forgiveness, many taunts and jeers as they have marched steadily forward in the cause of practical and demonstrable Christianity. Sustained by the consciousness of the divinity of their faith and the purity of their purposes—protected by the impenetrable armor of truth and virtue—their own lives have been luminous with love and jeweled with joy, as they have daily taught and exemplified the gospel of hopefulness, helpfulness, health fulness, and happiness.
