In a late issue a critic is reported to have condemned Christian Science while speaking at a meeting in London. Permit me to say that I am sure his condemnation has arisen from a misunderstanding of the subject, for the fruits of Christian Science are exactly what he advocates in another part of his address—viz., the fruits of early Christianity, healing the sick and reforming the sinner. The command of Jesus that those who believed on him were to heal the sick as well as preach the gospel, is as binding on Christians of the twentieth century as on those of the first. The power that enabled them to perform these works of old has never altered, being omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent throughout eternity. It only needs to be understood and applied today to produce the same results.

The gentleman is also reported to have said he thought Christians had lost all knowledge of God in these days. Now, God, "the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever," is the Principle of Christian Science, and to the extent that a man understands this Science, to that extent does he know God. This knowledge is absolutely essential before the kingdom of God is attained within, for the Master has said, "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
