When but a child, I used to read the command of our dear...

When but a child, I used to read the command of our dear Master to preach the gospel and heal the sick, and I wondered why people now did not heal the sick as he did. This was before I had heard of Christian Science, and when this Science was introduced into my life it so harmonized with my ideas that I immediately took it, so much so that I began to read the text–book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," through. I did not study it, but merely read it as one would any new book in which he was interested.

It was during this reading that a very convincing proof was shown to me. Previous to this I had been troubled with bronchitis so badly that in cold weather I could not talk above a whisper, and, to add to my discouragement, I was told that I could never be cured. One day, about a month after I first began to read Science and Health, I suddenly remembered that I had not been troubled with the ailment since I had started reading it—I had forgotten all about it. This was to me very convincing, and I have never taken any medicine since. Christian Science has also healed me of the effects of poison ivy and many other things. All of these things, however, I consider only secondary to its real purpose, which is the moral uplifting of humanity.

I am assured that no one can lose by putting his faith in this truth. It is the basis of all true living, since to do right is Christian Science; and we need not hesitate because some of our friends may have denounced it, for it will not be found lacking. We all have much to overcome, but the sunrise of Truth, above the horizon of our lives, will dispel the shades of error and human discord with the light of divine Love which shines forever.
