LETTERS TO OUR LEADER

Rushville, Ind., July 6, 1909.

Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy, Brookline, Mass.

Beloved Leader:—It is with a heart full of appreciation that I attempt to write you regarding the change that has come into my life after years of earnest prayer by a good mother. I was addicted to almost every known evil habit, such as profanity, drinking, and the tobacco habit in its different forms, but what seemed worst of all happened a short time before I became interested in Christian Science—I took a small sum of money from my employer. After reading and studying Christian Science for a short time I found that I must right the wrong, but how? that was the question. It did not take long to decide, for there was but one way—the right way. Trusting divine Love to care for me, I went to my employer with double the amount I had taken, feeling that he was entitled to that. After telling him what I had done, I gave him the money, and much to my surprise he refused to take more than the original amount, and in a very impressive manner commended the step I had taken.
