I feel that words are inadequate to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me, for it found me, less than a year ago, discouraged, disheartened, and to mortal sense a physical wreck. I suffered periodically from depression, and had frequent headaches, which often became very severe, the pain being so intense that my family dared not leave me alone when under these attacks. Hypodermic injections had to be resorted to before relief could be obtained, but the headaches became so frequent that I was obliged to give up the practice of law, in which I had been engaged for twenty years. I had also suffered for over twenty years from a bowel disorder, which finally developed into a serious form.

At last my condition became such that I went to a sanitaruim, where I remained under treatment two months. The physicians gave me no encouragement to remain longer, but advised that I might be benefited by change of climate, and acting on this advice I came to California. After spending three months at health resorts in different parts of the state, without receiving any benefit, I came to San Diego to spend the winter, if I should live to do so. In this condition, when I could feel nothing but discouragement and despair, Christian Science was presented to me. I had never heard of this teaching before, therefore knew nothing about it; but it appealed strongly to me, as a last resort.

I attended the Wednesday evening testimonial meeting at the church, it being my first Christian Science service. I was encouraged to call on a practitioner next day, and with loving, helpful, and encouraging words she told me about God's love for His children. During the first treatment I felt the power of Truth in no uncertain fashion, and the bowel trouble was overcome in that one treatment. The nervous affection, and many other inharmonies, including irritability and profanity, have also faded away to their native nothingness.
