The teachings of Jesus and of all the prophets will remain...

Baltimore (Md.) American.

The teachings of Jesus and of all the prophets will remain a dead letter, mysterious and impractical, so long as the physical is considered the real and the spiritual the unreal. The Bible commands that we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and that all else will be added. The kingdom of God is spiritual. To find it, then, we must leave out the physical, which can tell us nothing of the spiritual, and the first step in this direction is to be willing that not our own will, but that of the Father, be done. When the absolute elimination of selfishness is accomplished, the kingdom of God will not be very far off and can readily be perceived; then, in giving all thought to the glorification of Truth, all else will be added, so that even to mortal eyes many of the results will be manifest.

Healing in Christian Science refers not only to the cure of sickness and disease, but to the overcoming of all erroneous conditions,—mental, moral, physical, and financial,—everything that is opposed to God's law, and these conditions are overcome through the understanding that under God's laws these are not facts. If they were facts, it would be impossible to overcome them. The healthy condition is the real condition in the mental and moral realm, as well as in the so-called physical expression. Moral and physical health cannot be obtained through the operation of mortal mind or will-power,—the carnal mind, as St. Paul called it,—but through divine Mind.
