Our critic speaks of the "true" in Christian Science...

Brattleboro (Vt.) Reformer

Our critic speaks of the "true" in Christian Science "which has done good." May we call attention to the fact that, whatever else may be said about Christian Science, it is consistent, and he who has found even one point in its teaching that he considers "true" and "good" may rest assured that as he continues to study the Christian Science text-book he will discover more and more that is "true" and "good," and eventually it will be unfolded to him that there is nothing in the book that is not true and good and that every statement contained therein is entirely consistent with every other statement contained in the book. Such is the conclusion which I have reached after many years of careful study.

A consistent Christian Scientist has no desire to "eliminate the whole medical profession."

While Mrs. Eddy makes no pretense that Christian Science is in keeping with the more material schools of philosophy and science, it is well to note that Christian Science is in perfect accord with the science of the Scriptures. There is something to know about God and His creation and the relationship that exists between creator and creation. Moreover, this something is wholly spiritual and is not in accord with the evidence of the material senses, but it is not on that account any less entitled to the name science, for a knowledge of God which is true is on that account scientific, and is therefore entitled to the name science.
