[Written for the Sentinel.]

MY KINGDOM

With thought attuned unto the perfect Mind,
My heaven within my consciousness I find;
There hope and health and happiness abide,
To Christlike guests the portal opens wide.
Faith guards the door; no fear can enter in,
For truth and falsehood are not less akin.

My unity with good brings peaceful joy,
Free from the bitterness of earth's alloy;
It gives me power to think aright,—to know;
To heal the sick; to silence want and woe.
No thought of age or death can mar my peace,
For Truth unchangeable bids discord cease.

In God I have my being, move, and live,
And life eternal Life alone can give,
And thus, within my heaven, there is no room
For sense of loss, nor loneliness, nor gloom.
All-knowing, ever-present Love divine
Is there, and sweet companionship is mine.

Awakened from the dream of pain and sorrow—
No need to wait for heaven until tomorrow!
It is no distant place nor realm apart,
For heaven is here and now, within each heart.
But, precept upon precept, line on line,
Into the fulness of that Life divine
Must we press onward, as Truth lights the way;
More bright it grows, unto the perfect day.
