I wish to express my deep, heartfelt gratitude for what...
I wish to express my deep, heartfelt gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. It has helped and uplifted me physically, spiritually, and in every way. Prior to going to Science for help, I had been intimately acquainted with a lady whom I knew to be a Christian Scientist, but I did not know anything about this teaching and thought that I did not wish to know anything. I loved my friend, and simply ignored this subject. I mention this simply to show how stubbornly we array ourselves against what is for our highest and best health and happiness, until we are ready to receive it. About three years ago I had a terrible fall, severely injuring my spine and one hip, and for two or three days I endured the most terrible suffering with but little relief.
Then the "still, small voice" of Truth and Love penetrated the darkness and doubt, and clearly told me to try Christian Science for healing. Instantly all my wrong beliefs and prejudice against this beautiful truth vanished away like mist before the sunbeams, and with not a vestige of doubt as to being healed by it, I went at once to the 'phone and asked for help. Absent treatment was given me, and immediately I began to get better, so that in a day or two I was able to go to the practitioner and have long talks about the truth. In one short week I was entirely healed, not only from the effects of the fall, but I was also freed from a form of bowel trouble from which I had suffered and for which I had taken medicine for many years. I was also healed of heart trouble of long standing, and of stomach trouble. Since that first wonderful healing I have been enabled to overcome many physical ailments for myself, and also to help others.
But more than for all the physical healing, my heart goes out in glad and joyful thanksgiving to God, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the wonderful spiritual uplifting which I have received and am receiving daily from the study and understanding of this truth which heals the sick and sinful, and brings peace and joy unspeakable to the sorrowing. Words can but feebly express the gratitude and love I feel for our dear Leader, who by her purity, love, and consecration has been enabled to bring this message of Life, of peace, and of joy to the world to-day.—Lucy Reynolds, Pasadena, Cal.
