[Written for the Sentinel.]

RISE up, O child of God, and know
Thou need'st not be nor sad, nor weary;
The path by which thou hast to go
Love-lighted is, nor dark nor dreary.

O holden eyes, that will not see
The glory round about thee shining!
O hungry soul, Love spreads for thee
A table, every need divining!

Rise up, and break the bonds of sense,
And know the truth that maketh free!
Love is thine house of sure defense,
In Love is life and liberty!
