Christian Science has been of so much help to me during the past ten years that I wish to express a little of the gratitude and appreciation which I feel. As soon as it was possible for me to travel, after a severe illness, I went to a distant city to be with a dear friend during my convalescence, as it was thought it would be many months before I could return to my work. I went well supplied with cordials, tonics, prescriptions, and careful instructions as to what I should and should not eat. As I now remember, I took one dose of cordial the first morning after my arrival ; after that all medicines and medical admonitions were discarded—forgotten—for, without at the time realizing what I was doing, I had gone into the home of a Christian Scientist, and I found there something far better than was contained in all my bottles.
While I did not have treatment, the atmosphere of love so permeated that home, and all thought or fear of sickness was so far removed, that my health was soon restored, and never since that time have I had the least desire to make use of medicine in any way. I was soon able to return to business, and there I found what I had learned of this Science to be of great help. Later I was healed of a stomach trouble which had been with me for several years. While I have had various ills and problems to meet, I have always turned to Truth for help, and have found it. My last healing was the overcoming of an attack of illness through my own understanding of this great truth.
I am indeed grateful to God, and to our dear Leader, for the light, hope, and trust I have found through the study of the Bible and Science and Health. The entire Science literature, the Lesson-Sermons, and the church services with their healing influence,—all of these are very helpful to me, and I try to be truly thankful for my many blessings.
