THE LECTURES

Bicknell Young lectured for Second Church of Christ, Scientist, at Shrine Auditorium, May 10. He was introduced by G. M. Giffen, First Reader of Second Church, who spoke in part as follows:—

The marvelous strides in material improvements during the past fifty years, are, however, insignificant when compared with a higher and greater and more far-reaching change that has been quietly and unostentatiously taking place in the affairs of men in the correction of thought, or right thinking. The effort of ages has been profitless and barren of results, if results are to be measured by a better understanding of how to live rightly, how to enjoy better health, how to overcome sin, how to prevent crime, how to abolish poverty and establish in the here and now a condition of harmony and peace among the peoples of the world. This revolution of the thought attitude of men has met with much opposition because of being imperfectly understood, has been severely condemned and criticized for the same reason, yet, because it is right, because it is true, because it is the explication of the Master's teachings, it has gone steadily, surely, inevitably forward, until to-day hundreds of thousands of men and women throughout the length and breadth of the whole world pay glad tribute to the regenerating power of this corrected thought attitude, this "right thinking" way which Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of the system, has happily and properly named Christian Science.—Correspondence.
