I wish to acknowledge through the Sentinel my gratitude...

I wish to acknowledge through the Sentinel my gratitude for the many benefits received in Christian Science. It is now eight years since I first attended a Sunday service in a Christian Science church, it being in First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Chicago. I had been constantly watching the effects of Christian Science religion for about six years, my husband having been healed of stomach trouble by Christian Science treatment, and I had depended upon that method for the physical needs of our three children. The time came when I felt I needed relief mentally if not physically, and I found it through Christian Science. At times the clouds seemed dark and the way obscure, and many doubts arose. The Bible was certainly a sealed book to me, as I did not read it and had not for some years, because I did not see that it was of any benefit to mankind in this century; but now the Bible and the Christian Science text-book, also the Quarterly, are my daily study, and I find the promises contained in the Bible are for all time and in all places. All doubt of the healing efficacy of Christian Science was destroyed for me when, three years ago this January, a little son was born to me. No one was present in the room with me at the time, but I realized that divine Principle, God, is never absent. No sense of suffering was experienced, but a sweet intuition that "now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." I count it my sweetest experience. Having had three children born under medical treatment, and suffering greatly in each case, both before and after the birth, only mothers can appreciate how thankful I was and am to God, our Father-Mother, and to his faithful disciple, Mrs. Eddy, who has stood so firmly at her post of duty, teaching us how to know God and His law.—Mrs. Eva S. Hesler, Carbondale, Ill.
