Many blessings have come to my family and myself since I have been studying the Christian Science text-book by Mrs. Eddy, and putting into daily practice the truth which I understand. A recent demonstration, however, seems to mean more to me than all the others. In the morning I never felt better in my life, and I went to my employment as usual. About noon I was taken with very severe heart trouble, and concluded when I went home to dinner to remain there. I at once telephoned for help, and being very hungry I ate a bowl of soup, after which I rested upon a couch. While I was lying down I had my wife read to me from Science and Health, but every now and then I would lose consciousness. When the crisis came,—near four o'clock,—I was unable to speak or to move even a finger. I was in full possession of my mental faculties, and without fear. I wished to call again for help, and my wife, who by this time had become aware that I was in a struggle, went to the telephone to ask the practitioner for help, but she made a mistake in the call, and it dawned upon me that I had a work to do then and there for myself, to put into practice what I knew. When I discovered what was to be done, I declared the truth, that God is the only Life, and immediately following this declaration the struggle seemed intensified; but quickly came the still, small voice of Love, and all was over. I got up and went to my business, knowing that nothing had happened except an experience which to me was a great lesson.
To say that I feel grateful to Mrs. Eddy for giving us the Science of Life, is putting it in a very mild form, and as I have often said, I will strive to show my gratitude by following in her footsteps.
