Christian Science was first brought to my notice many years ago, but thinking it only a new method of healing, of which I then felt no need, I did not become interested in the subject. Later, when the mother of a family of small children, and I had exhausted every known method of government, even trying to doctor them into obedience, I began to read the literature of Christian Science for their sakes, having heard it said that Christian Science teaches self-government. It is needless to say that I soon found where it was most needed. My growth has been very slow indeed. I would not, however, forfeit my small understanding for the wealth of the world. The trials have been many and severe, but they have only served to make the many blessings doubly appreciated. I am indeed grateful for all the loving help given to me and mine all these years.

For the past seven years divine Mind has been the only medicine used by three of the children and myself. I cannot recall all the instances in which we were helped, but there were colds, an eruptive fever, etc., the most serious being an attack of lung trouble, which I had to meet nearly a year ago. With the help of a faithful practitioner I was completely healed inside of two weeks. This illness was the most serious I ever remember having had, and I can only express my gratitude for the healing in greater obedience and humility.

Above all am I most deeply grateful to our noble Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for revealing to me through her writings the God I had never expected to find—the God whose name is Love.
