When the truths of Christian Science first came to me, I was to mortal sense a physical and mental wreck; could not eat or sleep, or even read five minutes at a time. As my husband once expressed it, he guessed I had everything. We were visiting my husband's uncle and family, and I came across a copy of the Sentinel. I read the different cases of healing, and I thought that if these people could be helped, I could too, although a doctor had said that nothing short of an operation would relieve me; nevertheless, I resolved to try Christian Science. My aunt reminded me that I would have to give up medicine. I told her I would, and I have never had any desire to use a material remedy since that time.

The sense of peace that came to me with my first treatment was indeed wonderful. We made a journey to Port Angeles, Wash., and when we reached there I received treatment from another practitioner. After an eight-days stay at his home, I went to my own home, perfectly healed, although the treatment was continued until all fear was destroyed, and I now enjoy perfect health every day. After a few treatments I laid aside glasses, which I had worn nine years. I was supposed to wear them constantly, being an employe in a printing office when I first got them. With my healing came help also for our little son, who had been dosed with drugs for a long time.

The Christian Science literature is my guide, and I am able to meet seeming difficulties for myself and family, realizing that God is All-in-all. Along with many beautiful demonstrations we have had, one of the most convincing came to me one day when I was studying the Lesson-Sermon, "Soul and Body." For about eight months I had not been able to hear in one ear. I had been declaring the truth for myself, and as I went through with the Lesson. the sense of obstruction entirely disappeared from consciousness and I could hear as clearly and distinctly as ever. No return of the trouble has ever been manifested. I can say with the psalmist, "O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever." I thank God for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has so lovingly given this truth to receptive hearts. I have been in Science about two years, and after receiving my letter from an orthodox church, I united with First Church of Christ, Scientist, Port Angeles; have also made application to unite with The Mother Church. I am striving daily for that Mind to be in me "which was also in Christ Jesus," and always to be found living this blessed truth; as our beloved Leader says in Science and Health (p. 272), "It is the spiritualization of thought and Christianization of daily life . . . which really attest the divine origin and operation of Christian Science."
