Many years ago I began to have serious trouble with my gums. One double tooth became loose, and pained me in eating. I hoped the trouble would soon remedy itself, but it did not; so I finally decided to go to a dentist, who took out the tooth. He was a medical man of high standing, and he advised me to apply a solution to prevent the spread of the disease. After a time another double tooth became affected in the same way and was taken out, and I was told that I would probably lose all my teeth in that same way, because I was afflicted with a condition of the gums which nothing could cure.
Later on I came to Hannover, and turned to Christian Science. I learned to know the nothingness and powerlessness of matter, and gained the understanding that God, who is Love, does not create anything imperfect. I thought of the animals, which have good teeth in their old age because they do not hold wrong thoughts in regard to them as we do, so I overcame all fear of losing my teeth. After I had lived in Hannover for about nine months, I went to see a dentist about an old filling, and while doing the work he remarked, "What good strong teeth you have; we do not often find such teeth." I laughed to myself as I thought of the prediction of my former dentist. I have had no loose teeth since then; and five years have passed since I came to live in Hannover.
C. Eichmann, Hannover, Germany.
