AMONG THE CHURCHES

A most beautiful and desirable lot of land, centrally located, has been donated to First Church of Christ, Scientist, of this place, and we hope at an early date to erect a handsome church edifice. — Correspondence.

The members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of North Adams, held a meeting in the old Quaker meetinghouse in the Maple Street cemetery yesterday afternoon [Oct. 4], and it was a very successful one, the old meetinghouse being packed to the doors. There are a number of local persons who are members of the North Adams church, and this was the first meeting ever held in Adams. In connection with yesterday's meeting an unusual unusual thing occurred, inasmuch as a melodeon was played during the services, which is the first time that a musical instrument was ever played in the old Quaker house. Another matter of much importance was that there were a number of ministers of various denominations present at the meeting. It is thought that there will be a number of meetings held at the house in the near future.
